I got my first smartphone in 2010. I lived in the land of the Blackberry — Ontario’s Tri-Cities area — and the iPhone had also been out for a couple of years. But I didn’t want a Blackberry, and I didn’t want an iPhone; neither was customizable enough for me and so I waited until there was an Android phone that I did want. That phone was the HTC Desire, and it would characterize my smartphone journey for almost a decade and a half.
